Matthew, Mark, and Luke are three very important books of
the Bible. These three books are known as The Synoptics. They are called the
Synoptics because they have many similarities between them. The main similarity
between these three books is that they all tell of the death and resurrection of
Jesus Christ. Another similarity is that they all include when Peter declares
Jesus as the true Messiah. John the Baptist is also found in all of these books
when he prepares the way for Jesus and when he is decapitated. Many other similarities between these books
can be found like the great commandment, and the triumphal entry but these are
just a few.
Even though Matthew, Mark, and Luke are very similar they
also have their differences. Each of
these books have different authors. As a
result of this, each book has a different perspective on every story. This can
be seen in Luke as it provides an abundant amount of details compared to
Matthew and Mark. It can also be seen as Matthew and Luke have a setting
focused in all of Palestine. However, Mark is focused around the Sea of
Galilee. There are also stories that can
be seen in two but not all three books. An example of this is the genealogy of
Jesus Christ. This story is written in Matthew and Luke but not in Mark.
Matthew, Mark, and Luke have many similarities and
differences!
